I am a qualified dyslexia therapist and foundation phase teacher with a specialisation in learning support. My passion is to help primary school learners improve their reading, spelling, and general language skills. I have a special interest in supporting learners diagnosed with Dyslexia, ADHD, ASD and mild intellectual disabilities (MID). The therapy on offer will focus on many aspects of reading composition, depending on a learner’s unique need, grade level and academic performance. Additional therapy offered includes, but is not limited to, general language difficulties. Services available in English and Afrikaans.
Services
Stark Griffin Dyslexia Therapy (SGDT)
- Dyslexia refers to a specific learning disability that affects reading and spelling abilities.
- Dyslexia has multi-faceted symptoms that can range from mild to severe.
- I provide diagnosis specific SDG therapy to Dyslexic learners.
Remedial therapy in language and reading difficulties
Therapy is provided to improve reading, spelling, comprehension, and writing abilities according to the learner’s age and grade level.
Academic support and exam preparation
I provide academic support and help with exam preparation for general school subjects for all primary school grades.
Perceptual and reading skills assessment
This assessment is done to identify the gaps in a learner’s perceptual and reading skills. Once the assessment is done, a tailored remedial therapy program will be provided.
School readiness assessment
- School readiness refers to a learner’s ability to cope and succeed within the formal schooling sector (Grade 1).
- I am trained to conduct the Optima School Readiness Assessment.
- Detailed feedback will be provided once assessment is concluded.
- Therapy can also be provided to help learners bridge the gaps that were identified within the assessment.
